Tom Mahairas, founder of New York GO, has spent over 47 years in New York City as a spiritual activist. His involvement includes planting and pastoring the Manhattan Bible Church for 25 years, urban education, mercy ministries, as well as training and equipping disciples for cross-cultural evangelism through the New York GO.

Tom is an evangelist and visionary who spent his entire adult life with a focus on reaching cities holistically with the powerful and practical gospel of Jesus Christ. God is now taking that gifting and passion and using it globally to replicate Tom’s vision to impact the masses in Africa, India, Europe, South America, and throughout the world.

History

Tom was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, and immigrated with his family to New York City when he was 8 years old. He grew up in Manhattan, and during his teen years in the 60’s, embraced the hippie movement. He spent the next three years of his life taking drugs everyday and playing in a rock-and-roll band. Tom came to a point of desperation in his life when he was about 19 and began a journey to find his purpose in life. In the summer of 1968, he heard the gospel and accepted Christ as his personal Savior. Tom led his girlfriend Vicky to the Lord that same summer. They were married in 1971 and have 5 children and 10 grandchildren.
